City of Lake Forest
Thomas Engineering Group provided Phase II and Phase III engineering services to the City of Lake Forest to create a high quality, attractive and pedestrian friendly environment for the entry way into the City’s downtown area. The scope included coordination with IDOT, Lake County Council of Mayors, property owners, residents, and all other project stakeholders.
TEG also helped the City secure a $2.6 million dollar ITEP grant to fund the project.
Our team utilized Ground Penetrating Radar technology to verify existing survey and vaulted spaces under the sidewalk.
We also provided land acquisition and negotiation services to the City. The project also included utility coordination, Preliminary Site Investigation (PSI), permitting, watermain design, landscape design & renderings, and preparation of Plans, Specs and Estimates in accordance with IDOT/FHWA funding requirements.
Key design elements include granite cobble curb, decorative paver bandings and crosswalks, decorative PCC sidewalk, street lighting upgrades to historic fixtures, and detailed ADA and grading plans.
