Our team is looking for a Construction Project Manager to join our team. Our operations are primarily centered in the greater Chicagoland area and surrounding suburbs. This is a full-time exempt position with an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance (health, dental, and vision), paid time off, company vehicle, and 401(k).
This position is responsible for managing construction phase services for municipal, transportation, and infrastructure projects. The Construction Management Project Manager will oversee field staff, coordinate with contractors and agencies, ensure compliance with contract documents, and manage project documentation, schedules, budgets, and client communication throughout the construction lifecycle.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with experience in IDOT, Illinois Tollway, County, or Municipal projects who can confidently manage active construction sites while maintaining positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Manage construction engineering and inspection services from preconstruction through project close-out.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies during construction.
Oversee construction inspectors, documentation specialists, and field staff.
Review and interpret contract documents including plans, specifications, special provisions, and shop drawings.
Monitor construction progress to ensure compliance with contract documents.
Review contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, and pay applications.
Track project quantities, budgets, and funding requirements.
Lead progress meetings and prepare meeting minutes and project correspondence.
Monitor Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) and site safety compliance.
Coordinate with utility companies, municipalities, businesses, and residents as required.
Identify and resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, and scope changes.
Ensure proper project documentation, including daily reports, material certifications, quantity tracking, and final records.
Assist with proposal preparation and business development efforts for construction management services.
Visit and safely traverse construction and project sites while complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
Available to work occasional evenings, nights, and weekends when required.
Perform other duties as assigned by TEG Executive team.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from an ABET accredited school (or equivalent experience).
10+ years of construction engineering or construction management experience with demonstrated experience in managing staff and subconsultants.
Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Experience with IDOT, Illinois Tollway, County, or Municipal construction projects.
Familiarity with IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities.
Strong understanding of construction inspection procedures and contract administration.
Experience reviewing pay estimates, change orders, and contractor claims.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
A valid U.S. driver’s license.
U.S. Citizen or permanent resident (without sponsorship).
Salary Range
$120,000 - $160,000
